Welcome, readers! My name is Julie DeMatteo-Lane, and I am 40-something hearing-impaired woman, aided by the use of two hearing aids. I speak, lip read, and know some rudimentary American Sign Language – and that is a generous approximation. I will be sharing stories, thoughts, musings, and adventures about life “in the middle” – I do not identify with or associate with the Deaf community but I do not have “typical” hearing, so I do not really “fit in” over there, either. I hope that you enjoy reading my story and that it allows for some laughs as well as thoughtful reflection.
